Don Amatayakul hails from the vibrant city of Bangkok, Thailand. His journey into the world of photography started during a memorable trip to Florence, Italy that sparked his passion for capturing the essence of cultures and architectural scenes. Entranced by the cityscape around him, young Don found his muse.
A pivotal moment arrived when Don received a traditional point-and-shoot camera as a gift from his father. Guided by his uncle, a seasoned commercial photographer in Bangkok, Don delved into the world of photography and by high school, he was teaching himself different photo-editing softwares.
Residing in the bustling heart of Bangkok, Don naturally gravitated towards cityscapes and architectural wonders. The city, with its energy and charm, became his canvas. Don embarked on visual storytelling adventures, capturing the ever-evolving metropolis in his own unique way.

By spotlighting these overlooked gems, he challenges viewers to appreciate the often unnoticed splendor of their surroundings. Don studied Photography at the Faculty of Architecture, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, where he honed his skills and nurtured his passion. His talent has not gone unnoticed, as he frequently collaborates with industry giants such as Canon Thailand and Canon Asia. Through his art, Don Amatayakul continues to capture the soul of Bangkok, inviting viewers to witness the city’s magnificence through his discerning eyes.
My photography is a celebration of locality. While I am inspired by traveling to new destinations and interacting with new cultures, returning home and capturing the sustained buzz and liveliness throughout Bangkok is my unmatched joy. I gravitate towards cityscape and capturing the urban sprawl because it showcases both the macro and micro of human existence and all of its intricacies that we often overlook and take for granted. My art pushes the viewer to question the reality that I have crafted in an image and reconsider the same streets that they walk down each day. By presenting the glory of Bangkok to the world, my hope in tandem, is to have others get out and explore the uncharted in their own surroundings and share it.
