The Sixty LES Hotel, at 190 Allen Street, boasts an “Andy Warhol filmstrip pool” on the roof. The hotel, which opened in 2008, is, for some New Yorkers of an older generation, a jarring presence in the heart of the Lower East Side neighborhood that was the first American home to millions of immigrants from Eastern Europe. For something consolingly familiar, they can go around the corner to the boutique Blue Moon Hotel, in a renovated nineteenth-century tenement building.
